Street Outlaws' "Daddy Dave" Shares Testimonial On QA1 MOD Shocks
Oklahoman Dave Comstock, popularly known as "Daddy Dave" is one of the Street Outlaws reality television series' original and most popular stars, piloting a range of different vehicles to race victories and No. 1 spots on the famed 405 list and on the "No Prep Kings" circuit.
In 2023, Daddy Dave debuted a spectacular and one-of-a-kind new Audi S5 with a ProCharger-boosted Hemi under its beautiful red flanks. He's enjoyed considerable success with the car, driving it to multiple race wins against the nation's best in big-tire no-prep racing. The Audi has proven as versatile as its owner, built to excel on both large 36-inch slick tires and smaller 28x10.5's on an unprepped racing surface, and on much smaller 275 drag radials on sticky radial-prepped tracks. These two racing environments are worlds apart in chassis tuning and suspension setup approach, and with 3,500 horsepower on tap, demands suspension components that can delicately balance the car's power application under incredibly harsh conditions.

Daddy Dave has utilized QA1 products on other vehicles in his lineup, and with plans to press the Audi into some small-tire slick and radial-tire action for the first time to open his season, he tested on a set of QA1 MOD Series shocks over the winter. He liked what he saw, and the MOD Series shocks arrived bolted on to compete in the 275 radial no-time category at the sport's biggest drag radial-only events: Lights Out 16 at South Georgia Motorsports Park. He then took the very same set of MOD shocks, swapped out the interchangeable valve packs, and won a small-tire no-prep race in Texas the first time out.
The QA1 MOD Series shocks were designed for versatility, enabling racers like Dave Comstock to utilize the shocks in a variety of use cases, without any need to remove them from the car or ship them off to be re-valved as he transition between combinations.
ABOUT QA1 MOD SERIES SHOCKS
QA1 MOD Series shocks are built for serious performance tuners who need full control over suspension behavior. These 4-way adjustable shocks offer fully independent adjustment of both compression and rebound at high and low shaft speeds, giving drivers the ability to fine-tune suspension response for any driving scenario—from drag racing launches to aggressive road course transitions.
MOD Series shocks separate compression and rebound forces by shaft speed: low-speed adjustments handle body movements like roll, dive, and squat; high-speed settings manage rapid inputs like bumps and rumble strips. Each setting features 24 clicks of adjustability, allowing users to precisely dial in shock response.

The modular QuickTune valve packs can be swapped trackside to increase or decrease stiffness—no disassembly or re-valving required. External canisters with floating pistons eliminate cavitation, maintaining consistent damping. An indexable base simplifies installation and access to adjusters, even in tight confines.
With proven performance in 3,000+ horsepower drag cars and other high-performance applications, the MOD Series is built for adaptable control without compromise. It’s the ultimate shock for maximizing traction, stability, and handling precision.
